Was an interesting week. My ubuntu went a bit wonky, so I fixed the following: I don't like firefox due to the telemetry and mozilla evilness:

I had this rather vexing problem where firefox was the default instead of ungoogled-chromium.

Create a new desktop file in ~/.local/share/applications

The file looks thus and is named chromium-devel.desktop:

Encoding=UTF-8
Name=Chromium
Exec=/opt/ungoogled-chromium/chrome-wrapper %U
Terminal=false
Icon=/opt/ungoogled-chromium/product_logo_48.png

MimeType=x-scheme-handler/unknown;x-scheme-handler/about;x-scheme-handler/https;x-scheme-handler/http;text/html;text/xml;application/xhtml_xml;

Once this is done, use the following command: xdg-settings set default-web-browser chromium-devel.desktop

Then this should fix things.
