I got some interesting purchases this and last week. First up was a 'clone' of the very expensive big green egg (basically a fuel efficient heavy ceramic grill) that I found at lidl's for ONLY $70.00. Since its only me, and the BIG GREEN EGG is like 2k, (and 200 lbs!) I thought it was worth buying. So I purchased a few additional grill attachments (a heat deflector, aka a PIZZA STONE, and a nice 'charoal' ash can insert). I still await my grill cover, and I will keep people apprised about the 'cheap' not so green and and not so big (its still 50lbs!) egg clone.
The second things I got was a nice kayak lift (from thuule) for my kayak and new car. I still need to try it, alas it WAS NOT on sale at rei this weekend (due to being out of stock) so I went to a nearby store, (The rack attack) who sell it for an outrageously high price (20% off and still 'MSRP"), but had it in stock, and if tis a lemon, its easy to return. Since uninstalling/reboxing will be nearly impossible. So I just spent the money. We will see how the install goes. In theory the thing will 'lift' my kayak on top of my roof with very little effort on my part. We will see.
Finally, I have been doing quite a bit of baking lately, (mostly artesian sourdough bread) and got a nice double dutch oven from cusinel (a nice us designed china made) HUGE (like 7qt) cast iron. I seasoned it (It probably wouldn't be good for frying its VERY rough) but for baking nice crusty loaves it can't be beat.
Finally some Pearl Izumi shoes, which were well needed since my sidi bike shoes were nearly 20 years old! Have yet to ride on them but they are ready!
