My previous blog lamented the demise of my very pernicious and evilly recommended mini IS forum hx90. It served my unfaithfully for 3 years (the usb 3 never worked, the network died, and so did the bluetooth). It also didn't have thunderbolt, and was very noisy. The STH (evil server at home people) recommended it with a glowing evil smile. I suspect they are commies (just kidding!) and in league with the Lord of Darkness Themselves.
I am happy to report that my new lenovo Ideacentre is 'mostly' a nice replacement. The camera works in usb3, the network works, it has a proper thunderbolt port (in fact a PLETHORA of ports), is EASY to repair (Just a little fiddly to take apart), and has a built-in power module. It has 32gb of ram (I sacrificed the hx90 and mercilessly transplanted its body parts to my new patient!), 1TB of nvme in the form of 2 512GB nvme drives. I left one as 'the other os that spies and lies on you' and accidentally erased 'garuda' I am using mint edge, which seems a bit more stably than garuda. For the HTPC I mostly use it for zoom and video sessions, or web browsing.
It also is eminently repairable, with a removable power supply, fan, memory, and ssd. Alas if the motherboard dies, its sad, but its WAY more repairable than the @#$@#$@#$%π₯π₯π₯π₯π€¬π€¬π€¬πΏπΏπΏ MiniISForum HX90!
