New Phone Update notes
I was rather unhappy with the stock backups that google provides only via the cloud. I found this VERY nice program that at least pulls the data out of the phone and saves it to a nice compressed 7z file. It doesn't require root, and seems to save all the data I care about. I haven't tried a 'restore' yet, but I will use this in case things go south.
The link for this is here and the proram 'just works'. Be careful if you have a floppy cable, as adb DOES NOT like sudden disconnections of usb-c while running.
I did have to install quite a few things, (you need to get adb installed and a ton of other android things, but I won't document that here). The product claims to work with either win, mac, or my personal favourite, Linux.
My other option is to 'remove' sensitive files, backup to google, then transfer to new phone. Do the same when I get the new phone as well. I am not sure how the MS authenticator will react to this, but its interesting to see how well it does.
